The Two Powers Lens Unifies the Old Testament and New Testament

The two powers lens unifies the old testament and new testament in terms of away and the messiah. I struggle with the holy spirit being a separate person equal to father and son. It seems to me the spirit is just how away lives within his people once they are born anew. i wonder what first century christians really believed about the trinity.
