The Homosexuality of the United States

There seems to have been a climate of greater licentiousness, at least in the private affairs of people. It was a place where politicians would be doing all sorts of things that were not considered appropriate in English high society. And then there is also this kind of frontier sexuality that someone like Whitman obviously takes a lot of inspiration from for his kind of homosexual identity formation.
