Is the Plague a Metaphor for the Pandemic?

A plague offers a terrible experience, but a fantastic metaphor. Probably the most famous modern novel about a plague is Albecamus' La Pest. I decided to write because I just saw that Erdogan government is getting increasingly authoritarian. Why don't I write a historical allegorical novel to suggest that, when suddenly after three and a half years, plague overtakes me? "I'm sorry, coronavirus, this is a perfect lapses"
