What I Learned as a Writer From the Lanes Situation

Lane: I ended up scrapping probably 70 to 90 of the material that i had written about her processingof what happened to her as a tenager. She's a character who gets married at 15 to a neighbor boy. Her siblings suspect that it wasn't a willing pairing, and she always insists that it is. Lanes: After having that final interaction with her son, which is deeply painful,  she is able to comfort herself with the recognition that she she experienced that same no turning her back on the truth and running from it.
