Is This a Legitimate Breakout?

Gold has been more or less holding the gains since last week's decisive breakout. Breakouts, especially breakouts that happen on what might have been a one off data print, tend to retrace at least back down to that prior resistance level. So yes, i think it probably is a legit breakout. But i wouldn't be rushing to add a whole lot here. I'd be keeping some dry powder to see if that retracement gives you better location to add to your lungs.
