The Pros and Cons of Renting E-Scooters in Paris
Just 7.5% of those eligible to vote took part in the Paris referendum. Rental e-scooters were involved in three deaths and 459 injuries last year. Mayor Anne I'dalgo has promised to uphold the ban, which will come into effect from September. There are concerns that they make the streets look untidy and block pavements because they can just be left once users are finished with them. But even though there are greenhouse emissions associated with e- scooters, the ban could result in more journeys by car, causing more pollution and congestion.
