In 1936 Daytona Florida held a race the first professionals organized our car race right. The audience loved it but the guy didn't make any money at the promoter. A decade passes before they can kind of get this racing culture to grow and spread across south. Next year 1948 in February NASCAR holds its first professional race. Now do you know who the winning driver was? Mm-hmm Barney all field. Red Byron. Well red Byron was a former real-life moonshiner who notably was driving a Ford. And this means by the way the very first NASCAR race was won by a criminal.
