The Rainforest of the Amazon

Julio joined the native federation of madre de dios, known in spanish as fenamad. With them he travelled the amazon and learned about the challenges faced by not only his community, but indigenous groups throughout the entire basin. The peruvian government had a history of marginalizing indigenous groups, often taking sides with the big companies that were responsible for mining the rain forest for its precious resources. Julio realized that amazonian communities, including the madre dedios rain forest, were threatened, amena satos, by deforestation and mining activities.
