Hollywood Babylon was published first as a coffee table book in France, then a bootleg underground version came out in America in 1964 and sold well. Rolling Stone magazine put out a quote unquote legitimate version in 1975. This release transformed Kenneth Anger from a respected but little known experimental filmmaker into a well known expert on the todreist of Hollywood gossip.
