The History of Cabbage Night in New Jersey

The one night when kids are annoying and it has a different name everywhere where i grew up it was called cabbage night. Some sources claim that it occurs in sincinati while nj.com reports it's most prevalent in pyramas an area with a large dutch population. It came from the custom among young scottish women of examining cabbages pulled from their neighbor's garden on the night before halloween to see what their future husbands would look like. Once they do this they throw the cabbage against their neighbor's door and run away which makes me feel good.
