The Chair Is Not the Only Thing Infallible

Sometimes we Catholics are taught to think the pope is only infallible when he speaks ex-cathedra. That's really the only time that you've got to absolutely just submit to what he says, writes Pope John Paul II. But Vatican I doesn't say that's true and there have been instances in which papal infallibility has been proven otherwise. Infallibility is not about the Pope; it's about us as a community of Catholic believers who can count on each other for truth.
