The Re-Enchantment of Daily Life
A theme in my world made by hand novels was the re-enchantment of daily life which I represented as kind of a yielding to mystery. Enchantment is the normal state of human consciousness. Every so often you end up with a society that tries to pull itself out of enchantment by imposing some kind of rationalistic system of what the truth is. In Greco-Roman civilization was philosophy. Other civilizations have had their own their own rationalizations their own age of reason. And most civilizations have an age of reason and they eventually end up discovering that the human mind is not adequate to understand the cosmos.
