By 18 20, nearly eight point seven million slaves had departed from africa to the new world. That's an astounding number. The majority of people who emigrated to the americas until 18 20 were black. And it wasn't because that's what everybody wanted in terms of a racial make up in this new world. It's because of the labor shortage, and this was the way these people solved it. I would assume this is probably the greatest labor shortage in global history.
