How Long Will Inflation Last?
i asked duncan to guess we could be looking at another 12 to 18 months of really uncomfortably high price rises. If a government ever did whack up the basic rate of income tax by six or seven p in the pound, all sorts of other economic reactions would be unleashed. For some one earning, say, 30 thousand pounds a year, that would mean their annual tax bill rendered by around one thousand, 100 pounds a year. But any o, the broader point is this is a big number in terms of the economy as a whole. That's why we're seeing such a big hit to real household disposable income. And finally, how long will this bout of inflation last?
