The Bottom Line: Berkey Water Filters Can't Be Sold in Iowa
In 2002, the New York Times wire cutter did an analysis of Berkey filtration systems and they found that they were very effective at removing lead from water. That was a strong indication that they would do the same with other heavy metals. However, they removed way less chloroform than Berkey claimed they did. It's unclear from any available information but the inconsistency definitely makes a person think that maybe Berkey knows that they could not pass that certification requirement so they just decide to say fuck it we're not going to sell anything in Iowa.
