Bob Greene: Are we really that concerned about needing extended warranty protection on our purchases because a merchant won't respond to us when something is shipped to us defective? So we have to issue a charge back? Honestly, how often have you done a charge back that wasn't for actual fraud? But what's the financial risk here? Yet cards, touted, credit cards, touted like, hey, we offer extended protection coverage warranty things. Huh, I wonder why you do that because it's profitable for everyone but the purchaser, everyone but the consumer.
