Franco hates the second republic but while others on the right plot against the government he keeps his cards close to his chest. This allows him to retain his senior influence in the military while many of his colleagues are thrown out for insubordination and treason. He's unhappy but he's afraid he doesn't want to put his career at risk. The situation is so polarized so tempestuous that in November 1933 Spain lurches once more across the political spectrum.
