The Religious History of Arabia in Late Antiquity

The religious history of Arabia at this time has as much if not more to do with things like trade routes and politics and imperial control than it does about Protestant individual spirituality and faith. Can you give us a striking example or a case study of where you see trade routes and imperial interests determining the religious history that we see? I'm assuming this is actually my question because I'm writing a second monograph right now which is going to be called the Trading Faith so it's actually the topic of my next monograph too.
