In 1947, a few weeks before Roswell, there was an incident that occurred off Morrie Island, Washington. A captain of a small boat and his crew were salvaging logs when one of the flying craft started spewing out liquid metal goo which hit them. He reported this to a little pulp magazine at the time called Amazing Stories,. It then later became Fate Magazine, published out of Chicago.
