There are just enough weird edge cases that don't quite make a lot of sense that it can be somewhat of a painful experience trying to figure out how it all fits together. With Vim script sometimes there might be a particular internal state of the editor that you're trying to access and it may just not even be possible because ofHow the language was incorporated into the editor itself or if you can get at it through some convoluted mechanism.
