The Myth of the Chimera

This myth is certainly tied to specific places. The chimera was for a time the pet of the king of karia, before it escaped and rampaged. This was a region of western anatolia from the eleventh through sixth centuries b c e. It generally devours every mortal in sight and just sets everything on fire. In the book of imaginary beings, horelis bores writes that virgil describes the chimera in the aeneid.
