When do you think the Communist Soviet Union and the West really started spying on each other? It's completely misleading to see this as something that happens in the post-war years. If we look at what the Soviet Union was doing with their spy agencies in the 1920s and 1930s, this was a one-way fight. The Soviets simply could marshal more resources and better trade craft than either Britain or the United States in the pre- war years.
