Kase Francis sued Warner Brothers in 1937, claiming they had dangled a role in front of her as an incentive to sign the new contract. She asked that her contract be canceled on the grounds that Warner's had improperly cast her in unsuitable roles and prevented other studios from leasing her out for better films. The lawsuit caused enough of a stink that after a few months, Warner settled with K, agreeing that her contract with them would end in September 1938. But while K was still under the studio's control, they cast her in the worst films, including something called Women or Like That. They were helping that K would just walk away from the rest of her contract. In May 1938,
