Liff Freak: The Best Selling Single in Atlantic Records History

Liff freak, as the Francophile duo called their song, was unusually wordy for chic. Released in the early fall of 1978, it took just seven weeks to reach number one. It's six weeks on top was greater than the Streisand Diamond and Bee Gees hits combined. By the time Liff freak's chart run was over, it had been certified for sales in the US alone of six million copies.
