Do Trend Followers Do Well in Periods of Negative Equity Markets?

I think trend followers going into 2008 didn't consider in particular performance during negative equity markets. I think they thought, here's a system that tends to work, it tends to have nice return properties. And then 2008 happened. In the aftermath of that, with performance not being said brilliant, actually, directly after 2008, then the focus is on, yeah, well, if you don't get quite so much return, at least you get the good performance in in tail markets. But that's actually different from strategies that tend to do well when the market does really badly. So, so I think it's one of those things that was never the original intention, but as time has gone on
