Being a Christian in science has been the more difficult one. Being African American, unfortunately I can't hide it. So there are all kinds of interesting things that happen being African American in academia. And my group is working on taking those thousands upon thousands of other organisms that are currently inaccessible to genetic engineering and getting DNA.
