Very few people, particularly in the Panzer arm, were still alive who had fought during the fall of France. And there are very few memoirs today dating from that period. It wasn't the advent of the Spitfire that changed it all because you know that or every documentary you see about Dunkirk says 'when the Spitfire turned up' That was RAF bombers suppressing German troop movements near the coast.
