There was an assumption that the social hierarchy, which is almost an inevitable consequence of a community, was predicated on something like dominance. And so later i started to do more experimental approaches and got interested in very different behavior such as reconciliation after fights,. Or empity, how they respond to the distress of others. So i developed ideas about operation and ampathy at a time when people were still quite a bit focused on competition and aggression and violence.
