The Christero War

Christero War began in 1927 when radical Catholics rose up to defend the Church. Obergon ran for re-election, but other constitutionalist leaders got mad because he was going to block them and maybe just trade off terms with Chias forever. Two of these guys were arrested and executed on probably trumped up charges of fomenting a rebellion. With no serious challengers, Obergon then won his non-re-election  in July 1928.
