The Power of Gender Ideology in Autocratic Regimes
Alex says it's important to understand this attitude towards gender roles when looking at autocratic regimes. He says for many authoritarian regimes, gender ideology can become a substitute for an absent political ideology. Alex: In Egypt, women took part in the protests in the Arab Spring, but they should be predominantly wives,. They should take care of children of their husband, like they should return now to the kitchen. Like it's a man job to have power now and to rule over the state.
