There are a few points of view on why wildland fires in this area is so intense one of them is that too much wood is stored in the forest due to lack of horse management. NASA made a research recently which shows that the more important is that the winds became stronger and even if the fire if the fuel load would be less than it is now with the winds of this strength and speed the fires will be really destructive or hardly manageable.
