The Trump Administration Met That With a Reversal, Right?
President Obama issued a safety rule for trains in 2015 that required electronically controlled breaks, which apply simultaneously across a train rather than railcar by railcar over a span of seconds. The rule only applied to certain high hazard flammable trains and the Trump administration repealed that requirement three years later. If this train had had that, it did not. It would have been able to stop before derailment.
