The Advantage of Blockade in Intubation

Just because a patient can breathe with the tube in place doesn't mean that they're going to be able to protect their airway once the tube is out. Different muscle groups are more or less resistant to blockade. It takes twice the dose to paralyze the diaphragm compared to the adductor-policis muscle. Infusions of rock or ronium, again you're really going to titrate to the twitches that you want,. An infusion might start about 10 mics per minute of rock or one mic per kilo per minute of VEC.
