Why Is There So Many Laws Criminalizing Abortion?
Conservative judges are arguing that the constitution should be read as it was understood at the time it was drafted. They claim 30 of 37 states had laws restricting abortion, which would have been normal back then. But in fact women did have an opportunity to terminate a pregnancy, and they did so before this point in time where the foetuss first movements could be detected by the person carrying the pregnancy. It's really civil war that you begin to see all these laws criminalizing abortion pop up. The interest in the criminalization of abortion is actually fueled by a desire to maintain racial purity, to promote white supremacy.
