Cortez's Killing of the Cholulans
The massacre at cholula went on for two days. The whole city burned, and the spaniards destroyed a temple to the god quetzal koatl. When moctezuma heard it, he just hung his head and sat there, not saying a word. It seems more likely that this was simply an act of terror to instil fear in the heart of Moctezuma.
