The Tradition of the Pharisees and Jews

In the time of the Pharisees, there was this tradition that was claimed to be passed on from the patriarchs through Moses and through the religious leaders. But now in the Roman church, there's something similar going on except it is a true tradition. So this is how Jesus functioned. And the question today is, should we function in the same way? Or is there enough precedent to say that now things have changed?
