We tend to want the thing were smelling, or someth similar. So odors make us hungry in a pretty specific way. Our appetite for different types of food actually decreases. The fact that you get appetite for food with certain sensory characteristics reflects that we can actually signal the nutrient content ravco based on these characteristics. If something smells sweet, we assume it has sugar and carbs in it. IfSomething smells savory, we can assume it has protein in it. That was our follow up study, looking if indeed we can detect these megra nutrient contents in foods by smelling rather than tasting it.
