The Shoe Is a Sufficient Injignment in Arabic Culture
In arabic culture, the shoe is a supreme insult to show the sole of your shoe. And what zaide yells as he rises up and throws the shoe, as he says, this is a farewell kiss from the araki people, dog. He yells thout in arabic as he throws his first shoe. i think that's really important, both to insult dog and the throwing of the shoes, because it means something specific. It suggests a gan like that you're low down, that you're unclean. There's something deeply cultural about what seems very funny to rcans, but that has this very specific meaning.
