The Idea of Districts in Representative Democracy
In representative democracy, you have a lot of different ideals intention. You don't want to completely exclude from representation the interest of a minority. The idea of districts is that if there's some geographical correlation between your views and your location, then maybe by making the districts be connected,. they'll create zones where even a group that's in the minority state wide could be in the majority in that district. That kind of way of making districts doesn't work ecause it absolutely fundamentally locks out minorities, even very large ones.
