Trade and Economics Are a Finely Balanced Relationship
I believe that the sea peoples were not a united group of peoples collectively looking to raid lands like pirates, but was simply displaced populations simply looking for somewhere to live. Their comparative success may have been in part due to the weakening of empires due to agricultural failures. The same principle would have applied to the nations of the near east and this is likely why the assyrians did not prosper as a result of the destruction of the empires of the levant. Now that hittites were no longer around, near eastern society would need to start all over again. We have already mentioned during the course of this prot cast about the emergence of a philistine settlement on the banks of the mediterranean.
