Centrism in the Senate
The Senate is not necessarily a reflection of the American electorate. People are not a consistent 50 across all issues, right? There might be a 70 on certain social issues, but a 30 on certain fiscal policies or whatever. The idea that you have an electorate that is just clustered around the 50 mark on all issues isn't how people work.
