The Stoic's Opposition to Virtue
The objection in a nutshell is that the stoic cannot ground virtues goodness. On this view, virtues are really second order goods. It depends on their value on the first order of goods they reliably produce. Here's an example: Consider the virtue of being a good parent and providing a stable and nurturing environment for one's children.
