Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells in Human Schizophrenia

In order to get a Daphne neuron in the lab, you take either a white blood cell for me or a skin cell for me. You go through a process of what's called reprogramming which received technology which received a Nobel Prize number of years ago. And then with that stem cell, which is why it's called an induced because you force it to be pluripotent, means it can go in any different direction. It can be a stem cell or it's called IPSC. Depending on what you do to it, it can now be transformed into a neuron or a cardiomyocyte, which is a heart cell and so on and so forth.
