Debussy's Symphony for the Sea

The water has captured the imaginations of explorers and artists for all of our history. Composers have been particularly inspired by bodies of water. From handle riding music to be played on the river Thames, Bedrix Metna immortalized the flow of the river of Altava through his homeland. There is much of Debussy's music inspired by water, including a piece referencing the folktale of a French castle rising off the coast of Wise.
