Is Dark Matter Something of a Mirage?
In the mid-1800s, we were mapping the orbit of Uranus. The shape of the orbit was slightly different from Newton's laws' predictions. Scientists found this planet and they called it Neptune. This split to either find a physical thing or rethink our basic assumptions has happened before.
