I agree with james that many people can find meaning through various projects in their lives, including families and raising children. I think though, that even secular humanists, you see, have who are atheists, usually have a sense that humanity has a greater meaning. There's a massive project which the entire world is engaged in because of this enlightenment ideology. Now you could say that so hollow and shallow as well,. i think, for individuals, and ndeed, for communities, a transcendental sense of meaning was traditionally very important to most people.
