Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet

Shakespeare always uses the opening minutes of a play to tune us in to that play's particular wave s and sound worlds. The first few lines of romio and juliet contain a battery of puns, much to the distress of any one who's trying to teach it. A pun is a kind of opposite, or photo negative, of what the prologue has just been doing. Sometimes adaptations turn the ending into the ending that we would like them to have had.
