In her agenda, cutting taxes and trimming government itself held considerable appeal for the Thatcherite wing of the Conservative Party. After just 44 days in office, the shortest term ever for a British Prime Minister, Liz Truss announced she would resign. Her successor Rishi Sunak made clear that his economic plan wouldn't be quite so bold.
