The Importance of Agriculture in the Pre-Industrial Revolution

The Muslims had a very enlightened approach to land ownership. Farmers were able to work for themselves and for the community without being exploited. Agriculture was really an important part of their economic pie which makes it so important as a science. The gardener to the Emir of Tolevo who was called Ibn Basal wrote a book on agriculture in the year 1085. There were a great number of botanical treatises on the science of agriculture that again got translated eventually into the United States into Latin.
