Gavin admitted that he and Russell had gone over to Ellen's father's house around 2.30 in the morning to help Ellen escape. Gavin claimed they were making a last ditch effort to escape when Aaron woke up. Nervous that whoever tried breaking in the day before might try again, Aaron decided to sleep on the couch with a baseball bat beside him and casing needed to defend himself. For the next 3 hours, Ellen and Gavin stayed quietly in her bedroom until they were absolutely certain Ellen's dad was asleep. But the perfect opportunity to escape never came.
